Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Juan Manuel Marquez

Floyd Mayweather Jr. looks to make a strong comeback tonight versus the consensus #2 pound for pound fighter in the world. The weights for Mayweather and Marquez have been listed at 146 and 142, respectively. It will be a night surrounded by both negativity and positive aspects but will most definately provide the usual intrigue that any Mayweather bout brings.

For Floyd it should all fall into place tonight as he is clearly the bigger, faster, stronger, better defender of the two. Floyd also enjoys an obvious age and reach advantage. For most boxing analysts "Money" is simply better in practically all technical aspects of this matchup. Add to Mayweather's advantages the mere fact that he is fighting at a weight that he is perfectly comfortable at. Mayweather Jr. has been rumored to have been working extensively on his jab with his father for this fight. Look for him to control the tempo by timing his jabs to make Marquez "reset" and throw him off by firing his excellent straight right hand.

Many experts have already written off Marquez as a 4-1 underdog. This adds more of a load to Marquez' problem as he already is having to come up in weight by a wide margin. Marquez will rely heavily on his excellent instincts to try an keep up with the more talented Mayweather. Marquez will have to dig deep and maintain his focus to stay in this fight. He will have to walk through many head-snapping punches to get some decent work done. It is very important for Marquez to stick with what makes him special. He is naturally an efficient counter puncher and offers alot of ring smarts. He is excellent, as is Floyd, at adjusting as the fight progresses. Marquez has implied that the way to "break" Floyd is with efficient use of combinations. However, Floyd has proven time and again that he is both the most accurate puncher in the sport and the most difficult to hit altogether. Marquez' biggest key may come in the form of defense. How many punches will he be able to avoid? Will he have the legs and will he be able to avoid the early troubles he went through in his fights with Pacquiao and Juan Diaz?

RigoBox chances to victory: Mayweather 87% - Marquez 13%
Prediction: Mayweather by TKO in rounds 6-8
